Five(ish) Fangirls Episode #124: Baker Street Boys

Did you miss me? Sherlock and Watson are back for series 4, and stakes are even higher than ever. An evil plot is in motion, bigger and more sinister than Moriarty, and not everyone will come out alive.  And those who do live to see another day, will not be the same person they were before.

Five(ish) Fangirls Episode #112: It's Good To Be Bad

A hero is only as good as their villainous counterpart. In the spirit of all things creepy and scary, this week we go over our Top 10 Villains. We discuss what makes these baddies great, from their story to the actor(s) who portray them. Plus Rachel gives her recap of the first ever Doctoberfest at Who North America (along with a fun interview at the end of this episode!), along with some news and some end-of-the-month housekeeping.

Five(ish) Fangirls Episode #67: Boo To You

Trick or treat! Trick or treat! Give me something good to eat! It's all about Halloween on this week's Five(ish) Fangirls podcast, although in a slightly different format. Don't worry, we still have our usual news (and boy does some of the news make us break out our soapboxes!) but we tried something different with the main topic this week. So take a listen and let us know what you think. And make sure you bring along the candy!

Five(ish) Fangirls Episode #65: Once Upon A Time In Camelot

After a bit of a delay, this week's episode of the Five(ish) Fangirls takes us to the enchanted land of Camelot via Once Upon A Time. This season we see roles reversed, a legendary king who has some bad ideas, and a famous sorcerer stuck in a tree? (It's Once Upon A Time, just go with it, trust us) Plus quite a bit of news, a few technical hiccups, and a tangent or two.

Five(ish) Fangirls Episode #64: June 13th

Years following the events of the TV show Heroes, some familiar faces are back with Heroes Reborn. Join us as we discuss the continuation of the Heroes saga, including some new faces (some with really cool abilities), who we're still waiting to see, and if we think Reborn does the Heroes franchise justice. Plus Chrissy gives us her recap of Salt Lake Comic Con, a bit of news, and some start-of-a-new month house keeping.

Five(ish) Fangirls Episode #53: It's Fandom Christmas! Again!

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Listen on this week's Five(ish) Fangirls podcast as we just scratch the surface of this year's Fandom Christmas, aka San Diego Comic Con. What were some of our fandoms up to at this year's convention? What did we miss? And would we ever want to attend SDCC (our answer may surprise you!)

  • Plus a little bit of non-SDCC related news including casting for Once Upon A Time and Daredevil, another Star Wars movie, and an anouncement for Star Wars With Friends.

Five(ish) Fangirls Episode #47: Mystery Actor Archive

We're doing things a little differently on this week's Five(ish) Fangirls podcast. Instead of planning ahead on what we're talking about, we're leaving it to chance and literally pulling it out a hat! What will happen? Just listen and find out!

Also it's another slow news week as fandoms take a short breather before summer hits, but we do have a few pieces including convention news, and a character confirmation from the folks over at Star Wars. Plus it's a new month and that means a new photo challenge and book for the Traveling the Vortex Book Club.

    Five(ish) Fangirls Episode #45: Closure

Inhumans, alien artifacts, life-and-death situations, with just a hint of peppermint; in other words, just a typical day in the life of Phil Coulson and his crew. Join us this week as we discuss everything that went down in season 2B of Agents of SHIELD, from the MCU tie-ins, character development, and the multiple storylines that convereged into one knock-down-drag-out season finale (apparently the Whedon brothers are cut from the same cloth, oh the FEELS!)

Plus just a little bit of news including an expected yet-slightly-not-how-we-expected announcement from the folks at Lego; the return of a certain consulting detective may be sooner that we thought; and an exciting preview of the Flash/Green Arrow spin-off.

    Five(ish) Fangirls Episode #38: Run!

It's a special time this week on the Five(ish) Fangirls as Doctor Who celebrates 10 years since the series returned to TV. We have a special guest, Mikayla from the Web of Queer podcast, who joins us in reminiscing about how we discovered Doctor Who and what the current series means to us. In related news, Rachel shares her experience hanging out with fellow Whovians at Who North America and has an interview with WhoNA owner Keith Bradbury.

We also have news from Big Finish (our wallets are still crying from last week's news), Sherlock (warning, potential spoilers!), Heroes, and the X-Files. Plus a new month ahead means a new photo challenge and a new book for the Traveling the Vortex Book Club.

Five(ish) Fangirls Episode #13: The Game Is Afoot!

After being on an unscheduled hiatus for a week (the podcast was just "resting"), the Five(ish) Fangirls are back! And with a vengeance! We have not one, but TWO convention reports from Michelle and Chrissy from Fan Expo Canada and Salt Lake Comic Con, respectively. We have a bumper crop of news from Once Upon a Time, Agents of SHIELD, Guardians of the GalaxyDoctor Who (as well as some non-news regarding "Deep Breath" - eh, it was a slow news day in the UK in some respects). For our main topic, we discuss all things Sherlock Holmes - from the original stories penned by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and their historical significance, to more modern interpretations of the famous detective in BBC's Sherlock and CBS's Elementary. The game is certainly, as they say, afoot!
